Join the team as Senior Project Engineer, to lead and deliver on Engineering and technical aspects of Pacific Blue’s Australian solar, wind and BESS projects, to Australian and international standards, while optimising the technical and commercial outcomes.
This is a Maximum term role for 24 months within our Engineering team, based at our Melbourne office in the Docklands.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Lead the Engineering aspects of the development and delivery of projects, including feasibility assessments, technical specifications, project engineering scope of work and design work packages.
- Manage external consultants and contractors on Engineering aspects, including Owner’s Engineers (OEs) and Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors.
- Review concept designs, EPC specifications, scopes of work & designs to ensure best practice Engineering design and completeness of the deliverables package.
- Co-ordinate multi-disciplinary design activities.
- Prepare Request for Quotations (RFQs) including relevant Engineering scope of services / scope of work.
- Support the project management team in tendering processes, including completion of technical/ commercial assessments and response to clarifications.
- Carry out evaluations of tender responses and prepare reports summarizing findings, outcomes and recommendations.
- Ensure contractors / suppliers are sourced, assessed, selected and managed in accordance with Pacific Blue’s procurement policy.
- Provide feedback to the development team regarding areas of technical and schedule risk.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to provide high level technical and commercial inputs.
- Control and manage technical interfaces between consultants, contractors and equipment suppliers.
Experience, skills & qualifications
- Tertiary qualifications in an Electrical Engineering discipline, candidate with strong technical background
- At least 5+ years Australian experience in solar, BESS and/or wind including High Voltage (HV) Balance of Plant (BOP) design (primary, secondary & comms), 10+ years industry experience
- Experience across development & delivery (more project development focus)
- Experience with the supervision & co-ordination of consultants / contractors
- EPC or consultancy experience in electrical HV design would be highly regarded
- Knowledge of the relevant Australian or International Standards, codes and installation regulations
- Strong industry relationships, with the ability to leverage these relationships for the benefit of the organisation and its projects
- Track record of excellence – attention to detail and a passion for consistent, high-quality delivery
- Experience in project and construction risk assessment processes and the development of risk mitigating strategies
- Excellent track record of meeting project deadlines, budgets and technical requirements
- Excellent computer and software skills including Microsoft Office packages (i.e. Word, Excel, MS Project etc.)
- Mandarin speaking capability would be viewed favourably
