Forecasting and Commercial Analyst

This permanent position is responsible for the Commercial Demand forecasting process for all commodities at Pacific Blue.  The role will be responsible for interpreting and managing Customer and Generation forecasting processes and undertaking Commercial analysis to support the strategy for Pacific Blue.

 

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the Commercial team forecasting process for Customer requirements in electricity, gas and greens portfolios.
  • Manage and interpret asset generation forecasting with quantitative analysis of data to interpret ongoing energy needs.
  • Support the business in maximising forecasting accuracy.
  • Interface with core business areas of Retail and Generation to gather information for forecasting processes.
  • Support the analytics and insight capabilities for Commercial team. 
  • Manage AEMO Market Prudentials, including interface with internal Treasury team
  • Develop and adhere to robust commercial processes, including documentation.
  • Support Commercial function with market related pricing for Power Purchase Agreements, and other commodities.
  • Support organisational compliance with Australian Energy Market Operations obligations.
  • Monitor operational market movements and provide ad-hoc analysis and reporting.
  • Ensure that the Company’s compliance obligations are actively maintained, managed and kept up- to-date with particular focus on cyber security and data protection and the compliance obligations allocated to the position title as identified in the Company’s Register of Compliance Obligations (as set out in the Compliance Procedure and as amended from time to time).

 

Knowledge and Experience

  • Tertiary qualified, preferably in a finance / commerce / economics /science discipline
  • 3 or more years of Commercial forecasting experience, preferably within the energy industry
  • Knowledge of the electricity and gas market wholesale practices
  • Experience in developing, understanding, interpreting, and using commercial models.

  • Strong skills in data quality control, extraction, analysis and management.
  • A keen sense and interest in identifying and translating technical themes into commercial opportunities.
  • Ability to synthesise information from a wide variety of sources and generate powerful insights.
  • An ability to collaborate and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Ability to prioritise workload effectively and autonomously
  • Ability to work in dynamic and fluid environment
  • Ability to think laterally and analytically through complex issues and apply learned knowledge.
  • Understand customer’s behaviours and expectations with respect to commodity products.
