Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) Specialist

The Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) Specialist will be responsible for leading the implementation of:

  • the Company’s environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy
  • compliance on voluntary and mandatory reporting requirements on ESG topics

 

This position will engage with and influence stakeholders across the Company across geographies, including updates to management and relevant Board Committees, to drive our climate and environmental strategy and manage our non-financial and climate-related financial disclosure requirements.

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Lead Pacific Blue’s ESG strategy implementation, including budgeting, monitoring on key ESG metrics, reporting and promoting activities.
  • Lead effective stakeholder engagement and project management by supporting negotiations, managing contracts, delivery and relationships with external partners contributing to ESG strategy
  • Guide business leads with policy and procedural reviews to support alignment with ESG focus areas.
  • Collaborate with business leads to ensure practices and activities are delivered in alignment with ESG principles, commitments and business needs.
  • Support business strategic planning to integrate ESG metrics and climate change risks and opportunities into asset development, operations (generation and retail), finance, and commercial aspects of the business
  • Evaluate efficacy of ESG program and provide recommendations for improvement as required.
  • Prepare business annual ESG voluntary and mandatory reporting in collaboration with other stakeholders such as a Sustainability report, integrated reporting tool, NGERS, AASB S2, United Nations COP and ad hoc sustainability reporting, including materiality assessment, information and data gathering, content development and oversight of external assurance as required.  
  • Co-ordination of ESG reporting requirements for the Pacific Blue Group, including liaison with overseas operations which required.
  • Act as technical expert and staying ahead of ESG and sustainability frameworks, standards, reporting and disclosures, as well as market trends and government expectations to ensure continuous improvement in Company practices.
  • Lead training and development programs for the board and other key stakeholders on ESG topics to improve organisational awareness on best practice.
  • Collaborate with Communications/Marketing team to develop internal and external stories across various channels that leverage and promote the Company’s sustainability practices and performance.
  • Ensure that the Company’s compliance obligations are actively maintained, managed and kept up to date with particular focus on the compliance obligations allocated to the position title as identified in the Company’s Register of Compliance Obligations.  

 

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Tertiary qualified in a Business, Sustainability/Environment or related discipline 
  • Solid experience with at least 3 years in ESG and sustainability for multi-national companies
  • Sound experience in contemporary ESG practices and regulations including Climate Active, NGERS, TCFD, and SBT
  • Displayed ability to influence key stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Demonstrated effective problem-solving techniques and strong communication skills
