AZURE Infrastructure Engineer

Purpose

  • The Technology function within Pacific Blue is strategically important and plays a crucial role in shaping Pacific Blue’s operations, efficiency, competitiveness, and strategic growth. The technology teams primary focus is on delivering the highest level of security, reliability and customer service.
  • The AZURE Infrastructure Engineer role is required to work within the technology team to design, build, manage and secure Pacific Blue’s cloud infrastructure, systems, and applications.  Review, design, implement, and maintain a highly available redundant system. Maintain the overall infrastructure to ensure high performance and resilience across Pacific Blue’s hybrid (On-Prem and Cloud) environments. The role requires the ability to interact regularly with non-technical business users to understand requirements and to design, communicate and build new, secure solutions and systems to meet business objectives and standards.
  • The AZURE Infrastructure Engineer role will also act as an escalation point for the Service Delivery team, supporting Pacific Blue staff for user, hardware and software issues with the highest level of quality and customer service as needed.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, manage and maintain scalable and resilient cloud infrastructure solutions based on business requirements and industry best practices to achieve the highest appropriate level of availability, performance, data integrity and information security for Pacific Blue.
  • Investigate and recommend the use of Azure-based applications and services that leverage Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offerings.
  • Monitor cloud resources for performance, availability, and cost optimisation, and implement scaling and optimisation strategies as needed.
  • Conduct regular security assessments and audits to ensure compliance with security standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Configure and maintain Azure Monitor, Azure Log Analytics, and Azure Application Insights for proactive monitoring, logging, and alerting of Azure resources and applications.
  • Troubleshoot Azure infrastructure and application issues using diagnostic tools, log analysis, and performance monitoring techniques.
  • Document cloud infrastructure designs, configurations, and procedures to facilitate knowledge transfer and operational readiness.
  • Create and maintain runbooks, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and knowledge base articles to assist operations teams in managing and supporting cloud environments.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate team members on cloud best practices, new features, and emerging trends.
  • Manage and monitor security assessments, vulnerabilities, remediations and related projects ensuring continuous improvement of the security posture of the business.
  • Project management of tasks and projects related to cloud hosted and on-premises Infrastructure.
  • Accurately log, track and resolve systems and infrastructure related issues to minimise problem impact ensuring agreed service levels are maintained.
  • Analyse, provide and action recommendations for technology improvements to better meet business requirements.
  • Manage, maintain and regularly test the IT Backup and Disaster Recovery systems.
  • Ensure all Cloud Infrastructure is managed, maintained, and monitored to the highest quality standard to reduce the likelihood and impact of issues.
  • Collaborate positively with internal and external stakeholders, developing strong relationships and ensuring consistently productive interactions.
  • Ensure that SLA’s and customer expectations are delivered to high quality and high customer service standards.
  • Provide third level support to Pacific Blue staff, hardware, and software issues with the highest level of quality and customer service.
  • Ensure the IT team maintains a low risk profile with secure IT infrastructure and systems.
  • Manage and maintain the accuracy of issue and change processes as they relate to Systems and Infrastructure.
  • Ensure that the Company’s compliance obligations are actively maintained, managed, and kept up to date with particular focus on the compliance obligations allocated to the position title as identified in the Company’s Register of Compliance Obligations (as set out in the Compliance Procedure and as amended from time to time).
